3D Printing (additive manufacturing or direct digital manufacturing) is the new industrial revolution in making. “In an age of custom-fabricated, do-it-yourself product design and creation , the collective potential of a million garage tinkerers and enthusiasts is about to be unleashed upon the economy, driving a new age of American manufacturing”according to a writer. We are taking an early step in this revolution, the purpose being developing awareness, technology education and training engineers and scientists of all ages. The technology is quickly getting into Disney and Hollywood productions; government agencies such as Departments of Defense, Health, Energy, NASA, and our personal lives for media entertainment.
Why are we focusing on this subject? A 2013 study from Oxford University predicts that the rapidly growing automated future technology could displace nearly half of American jobs.
